During the break Corinthians signed center back Gil, who was playing in China. He already had his situation regularized and as he’d been playing for Shandong Luneng, he’s fully fit and can make his debut this weekend.

CSA signed a few players, too, who are all ready to play, but their main change happened on the bench, as they fired coach Marcelo Cabo and brought Argel Fucks to replace him.

In the first nine rounds before the Brasileiro stopped during the Copa America – eight matches for them in this period –, Corinthians couldn’t manage to get a good sequence of games and their form shows how inconsistent they have been so far, with 3 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses, one of them in their most recent game against Santos and lose 1-0.

With only one win in this period, CSA are placed deep inside the relegation zone with six points, but that was already expected, as they are coming from the Second Division and don’t have the same kind of money bigger clubs have, which makes a huge difference and even though they signed a few experienced names such as striker Alecsandro during the break, he’s not getting any younger and at the age of 38 it doesn’t seem very likely that he’ll make any difference considering the kind of football he showed in his recent clubs.

That’s worrying because of the fact that CSA scored in only two of their last five league games and failed to score in all their four away matches in the Brasileiro so far, and now, against a strong defense they should offer no threat, giving Corinthians a great chance of winning the game.

Corinthians are not ones to conceded too many goals. In fact, the only time they conceded more than twice in the Brasileiro this year was in the first round, which was also their only league game that ended with over 2.5 goals. That way, I expect this match to have a low score.

These teams will meet for the first time in the league.
