Chapecoense’s main centre back Douglas saw his third yellow card last time out and will be out of this league match.

Injured/unavailable: Elicarlos (hamstring), Victor Andrade (calf), Thiago Santos (groin), Yann Rolim (foot)
MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN
Goias had their last weekend league match against Corinthians postponed due to scheduling issues, so they had two weeks’ rest ahead of this league match. In their last league fixture, they visited CS Alagoano with hopes of securing at least a point from the trip, but they ended up defeated 1-0. They played arguably better than the hosts but couldn’t convert any of the 15 chances they created throughout the league game. In return, they conceded 17 minutes into the second half and walked off the pitch with no points in the bag. It was their third defeat in the last five league fixtures, having won the other two.
Chapecoense succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at home against league leaders Palmeiras in the league last weekend. All three goals were scored in the first half after a threatening start from the visitors. Chapecoense conceded the league game’s first goal in the 32nd minute, but they managed to equalise from the spot only five minutes later – striker Everaldo was the author. However, the visitors went 2-1 up before half time and resisted the hosts’ pressure in the second half, cementing Chapecoense’s third defeat in their last four league games (one win). Having produced such disappointing results, the team remain in 13th place with only seven points from their seven league games.
Goias have won their last two league matches at home while Chapecoense have been defeated in two out of their three away league fixtures this season (one of the matches taken place on neutral ground), winning the other one. Adding to that, this weekend’s visitors have conceded in all of their last six league games and just don’t appear solid enough to be safe on such a threatening trip. I will go for a home win here.
SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – GOIAS
Goias have scored first in their last two home league matches, which both ended in wins. I think they will break the deadlock again here.
HEAD TO HEAD
This will be the first league meeting between the sides since 2015.
