MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN
Helsingborgs looked set for a second straight away league win under new manager Henrik Larsson last weekend, but a late goal from Elfsborg with just three minutes left to play made sure that they had to settle for a 1-1 league draw. A penalty miss from captain Andreas Granqvist in the first half will be rued by the team. Still, four points from six since Larsson returned to the club means that they have somewhat eased their relegation fears. They were the better team against Elfsborg and created enough chances to win the league game. With rumours of an impending signing of a striker to replace Rasmus Jonsson they could field another starting line-up against Sirius. It will be interesting to see how Larsson is greeted when they play at home for the first time since his return. He left the club after being relegated in 2016 and has been unpopular since. The recent good results have perhaps helped a little. Helsingborgs are without a league win at home since mid-April, drawing three and losing two.
Sirius drew 1-1 at home to Ostersunds in the league last weekend and they continue to pick up points at a decent rate. They have clinched 17 points from 14 league games and are currently mid-table despite being tipped for relegation by many before the season started. Their away league form is actually good though with three wins, one draw and two losses, and they have won their last two away league matches without conceding. For this league game they have their captain Niklas Thor suspended and Robert Ahman-Persson is also definitely out. With Mohammed Saeid and Abdul Razak being doubts they could be forced to play a weakened team.
Helsingborgs will be eager to get a good result at home to make the supporters happy. They have looked solid since Larsson took over and on paper they have stronger squad than Sirius. With the visitors also having key players missing they could be in for a tough afternoon. Helsingborgs are the slight favourites.
SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – LOW
None of Helsingborgs’ last five league games have seen more than two total goals scored. With 14 league goals scored so far they average exactly one goal per league game. Sirius’ last four league games have also seen fewer than 2.5 total goals scored. Another low-scoring affair is expected.
HEAD TO HEAD
There have been no recent league meetings between these two teams as they have been in different leagues.
