MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN
The Houston Dynamo lost for the seventh time in eight away league matches as they were edged 3-2 away by FC Cincinnati last weekend. Houston allowed goals in the 29th, 38th and 61st minutes before attempting a comeback. However, it was too little too late as Romell Quioto scored in the 79th minute and a Nick Hagglund own goal two minutes later made it interesting but it wasn't enough. The Dynamo have just one win in their last seven league matches with five defeats and a draw, they failed to score in three of them. They remain at 27 points on the season out of a possible 54 and despite sitting in seventh place, they are by no way guaranteed of a playoff spot in the West.
Los Angeles FC showed the Vancouver Whitecaps no mercy in the league last weekend as they demolished them 6-1 at home. The Whitecaps had beaten the side 1-0 at home in league action earlier this season and then had the nerve to take a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute last time out. That woke Los Angeles up and they came storming back with six goals between the 35th and 72nd minutes courtesy of two from man of the match Carlos Vela and Adama Diomande, and singles from Mark-Anthony Kaye and Diego Rossi. Vancouver also helped them out with a red card four minutes from time. Los Angeles FC remains the cream of the crop in the league and the West with 43 of a possible 57 points from 13 wins, four draws and two defeats, with a league-high 50 goals scored and a league-low 16 against.
This league game features an unbeaten home side taking on the league's best away team but with Los Angeles FC outscoring their opponents 11-2 in the past two league games I expect them to hand the Houston Dynamo their first home league defeat of the year.
SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – HIGH
These teams met twice in the league last year and shared ten total goals for an average of five total goals per game. It appears they prefer attacking football when meeting each other, so I like the odds of at least three total goals in this league match.
HEAD TO HEAD
Los Angeles FC beat the Houston Dynamo 4-2 at home and drew 2-2 in Houston in the league last year.
