Match Time: 9/10/2019 20:45 Tuesday GMT+8)
Malaysia: Only "paper tiger" when reaching out to the world ( Recent Form: W W W L W )
Being the runner-up in Southeast Asia, but the strength of Malaysia is not really clear. Football Federation of this country is actively using foreign soldiers and naturalized players to find a shortcut to race for achievements. This policy is somewhat successful and Malaysia will continue to launch other naturalized players at the upcoming World Cup qualifier. In 2019, Malaysia played a lot of matches but the majority of them were friendly matches. In June, they had to attend the first preliminary round of the Asia World Cup qualifiers. Against a weaker East Timor opponent in all aspects, Malaysia did not have much difficulty to win. However, in the last match, they lost to Jordan in a friendly match. Remember, Jordan is also the team sitting "on the top" like the UAE today.
UAE: Winning to assert strength ( Recent Form: L W D W W )
The UAE may be "optimistic" that they are the strongest team in Group G. However, the qualification gap between them and their Southeast Asian rivals is not really different. Remember, they were once held by Thailand with a score of 1-1 in the Asian Cup earlier this year. Since that tournament, the UAE has only friendly matches and gained positive results. This team is unbeaten in the last 4 matches with 3 wins and 1 draw. The UAE is in a quite high shape and has great confidence when defeating both Syria and Saudi Arabia in recent times. They also really want to get the victory in this first match. A victory over Malaysia will give the UAE the perfect start. More importantly, it will send a message to Vietnam or Thailand that they are the strongest team in Group G.
THE BETTING VERDICT:
After all, UAE is the No. 1 seed and of course is most appreciated. However, in this group of death, no team that can confidently pat their chest will top the table. And the UAE knows this better than ever with the dangers from Southeast Asia. They will have their first match at the 2022 World Cup qualifier against Malaysia away. This is the opponent that the UAE is extremely confident can beat. Remember in the last 5 meetings, Malaysia has never had a draw, let alone winning the opponent. They lost all 5 matches, even losing 0-10.
