AS Monaco: First three competition wins in a row this season? ( Recent Form: L L L W W )
At the beginning of this month, AS Monaco lost 3-1 to low-flyer Nimes Olympique, but in the last two games the Monegasken managed to recover. A week and a half ago, Angers won 1-0 despite poor play, and last weekend the team of Roberto Moreno won a 2-1 visit to low-flyer Amiens. The Monegasken were actually better than Amiens throughout the game, but for a long time it seemed that the Moreno team would have lost 1-0 due to an early goal. Wissam Ben Yedder and substitute Islam Slimani, however, saved the three points for the Monegasken in the final phase, which rose to seventh place in the rankings. Not only competitions of Paris Saint-Germain appear to be a guarantee for goals this season, because the AS Monaco matches are often spectacular. In the first 24 league games of the Monegasken this season, eighty hits were recorded, or on average over 3.3 hits per game, neatly divided between the Monegasken and their opponents. It is therefore not surprising that ten of the twelve home games of the Monegasken in the Ligue 1 counted at least three hits this season and that in eight of the twelve games both teams scored.
Montpellier: The top three is in sight again ( Recent Form: W D L D W )
Just like AS Monaco, Montpellier fell sharply at the beginning of this month and also La Paillade recovered afterwards. A week and a half ago, Montpellier was somewhat fortunate in its own home against Metz and last weekend the staggering AS Saint-Etienne was won at Stade de la Mosson. Immediately before halftime the team of Michel Der Zakarian had to take a 1-0 lead after a red card for Solomon Sambia with one man less, but nevertheless the team of Der Zakarian managed to hold on in the second half and a 1-0 win to cross the line. The backlog in third place was thus reduced to four points and so Montpellier has the prospect of a ticket for the Champions League again. The league games of Montpellier this season generally have more than a quarter fewer hits than those of AS Monaco and it is therefore not surprising that exactly half of the league matches of the team of Der Zakarian had at least three hits. In no fewer than nine of the last ten league games, la Paillade scored, but in eight of those ten games a goal was also cashed in, so a goal from both teams is not unlikely on Friday night.
THE BETTING VERDICT:
After all, in at least half of the league games of both teams this season, at least three hits were recorded, so the chance of at least three hits in this match seems to be more than fifty percent in advance. Looking purely at the fact that half of Montpellier's league games this season ended with a minimum of three hits, as well as three-quarters of the Monegasken league games and the fact that the earlier meeting between both teams had four goals this season.
Monaco - Montpellier
O/U Pick: Over 2.5 goals
