Real Salt Lake expect to be missing Luke Mulholland, Nick Besler, Jordan Allen and Tony Beltran while Kyle Beckerman is suspended and several players are on international duty..
The San Jose Earthquakes report Shea Salinas as doubtful and manager Matias Almeyda as suspended with several players on international duty.
Real Salt Lake
Suspended: Kyle Beckerman
Injured/unavailable: Jordan Allen, Tony Beltran (both knee), Luke Mulholland (hamstring), Nick Besler (foot); Justen Glad, Aaron Herrera, Brooks Lennon, Sebastian Saucedo, Albert Rusnak, David Ochoa, Jefferson Savarino, Corey Baird (all international duty)
San Jose Earthquakes
Suspended: Matias Almeyda (manager)
Doubtful: Shea Salinas (leg)
Injured/unavailable: Gilbert Fuentes, Guram Kashia, Valeri Qazaishvili, Marcos Lopez, JT Marcinkowski, Nick Lima, Yueill Jackson, Harold Cummings (all international duty)
MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW
Real Salt Lake couldn't build on their 2-0 home win over Colorado a week earlier and were shut out 1-0 in Portland in their last league match and have failed to score in two of their past three games. Real have 43 points on the season, which is just one ahead of eighth-place LA Galaxy.
San Jose scored three goals for the second match in a row with a dominant 3-0 home win over Orlando city on August 31st after a 3-1 home win over Vancouver a week earlier. Six points out of the last six definitely helps their playoff hopes in the Western Conference since they were winless in their four prior league outings with three defeats and a draw while being outscored 8-2. Overall, San Jose has lost just four of their past 17 league matches with ten wins and three draws. They have 44 points which is just two ahead of eighth-place LA Galaxy. San Jose has three away wins with three draws and seven defeats.
Both teams expect to be weakened due to international duty so I'll go with a draw.
SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – LOW
Nine of their past dozen league matches between both teams featuring two total goals or fewer. I like the chances of a low-scoring clash.
HEAD TO HEAD
San Jose were 1-0 home victors in July and have lost just one of the past nine league meetings with four wins and four draws.
