MATCH PREVIEW MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW
Tochigi managed an additional time equaliser at Machida Zelvia last weekend in J2, that vital goal coming from Reiya Morishita after Shinichi Terada had equalised once already. They are unbeaten in four league games although their last three have all been draws. In fact seven of their 16 games so far in 2019 have been drawn. Up against a JEF United team that was stung last week they may find it hard but I feel a draw can be earned, again!
JEF were destroyed 4-1 at home by V-Varen Nagasaki last weekend in J2, their only goal coming from Takayuki Funayama in the 94th minute when already 4-0 down. They have been wildly inconsistent (JEF followers must expect this!) recently with two wins and three draws in their last eight matches – and their wins have been impressive, beating Ventforet Kofu and thrashing FC Gifu. But they have also lost 4-1, and 3-1 twice as they start to leak goals again.
JEF may well be happy to go for a draw and try not to concede goals in the end, but with nine goals conceded in their last four league matches I do not see a 0-0 draw here! But a draw it will be!
SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST HALF HAD - AWAY
JEF have nine goals in the 1st half of games this season (Tochigi have just five) and have been ahead six times at the break (Tochigi just twice). While I see draw JEF start well, but it's Tochigi who have six goals in the last 15 minutes of games as they finish strongly to take a point!
HEAD TO HEAD
In J2 matches between these two teams last season JEF won away and drew at home.
