MATCH PREVIEW MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW
Mizuki Arai gave Verdy the lead last weekend in their J2 game at V-Varen Nagasaki, before they eventually went down to a 2-1 defeat. It was just their second defeat in nine league games, but four of those matches have been drawn and they have just three wins in there. They are now, I feel, consigned to a mid-table finish, being 10 points from the top six and 11 points from third-from-bottom. It seems that changing their manager did not help results although I hear from within that it has definitely helped morale, and maybe it was too late to make that decision.
Masato Kudo pulled a goal back for Renofa after they went 2-0 down at home to Fagiano Okayama last weekend in J2, but they eventually lost 2-1. They have just two wins in nine league games, but those have both come against promotion-chasing teams. It seems they raise their game against better teams. It remains to be seen if Renofa consider Verdy worth raising their game for! If one player can change a team then I feel that Takahiro Ko will boost this team in midfield as he aims to gain experience of playing full games before returning to Gamba Osaka next season.
Verdy's lack of anything to play for should mean that Renofa get something out of this one but I'm not sure they can win on current form. I'd go for a draw here!
SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST HALF HAD - DRAW
Two teams lacking any real motivation may well take until later in the game to wake up. Both Renofa and Verdy have scored more goals in the 2nd half then the 1st this season, although Renofa's 2nd half ratio is much higher than Verdy's.
HEAD TO HEAD
In J2 matches between these two teams last season each team won their home game, while earlier this season Verdy won 3-2 away from home.
