Ukraine: Big win over Serbia ( Recent Form: L D D W W )
Ukraine already has excellent papers to reach the European Championship after three matches in the qualifying pool. With Portugal and Serbia, the men of national coach and former top striker Andriy Shevchenko met two formidable opponents for the two direct tickets, but after both countries have already been hit, Ukraine is in the best position. A visit to Portugal was scored without scoring and last Friday Serbia was beaten in Lviv with a whopping 5-0. Viktor Tsygankov of Dynamo Kiev and Schalkes Evgen Konoplyanka were good for two hits, while Roman Yaremchuk of AA Gent was also accurate. With the victory over Serbia, Ukraine is leading with seven points from three games in Group B. With the first two games against Luxembourg and Lithuania ahead, Shevchenko's team can take a big hit on its way to the European Championship next summer.
Luxembourg: Is still in second place ( Recent Form: D W L D D )
If you look at the stand in Group B, you will be somewhat surprised that Luxembourg is in second place, above Portugal and Serbia. However, this performance must be somewhat trivialized. The Luxembourgers played a match more than both countries and moreover all four points were achieved in both meetings with the other weak brother in the Lithuania pool. Nevertheless, the performance of the Luxembourg team has improved considerably in recent years. The Grand Duchy is no longer cannon feed for the larger football countries. Proof of this is the home game against Ukraine, which was narrowly lost with 1-2. The winning goal, via an own goal from Gerson Rodrigues, only fell in the 93rd minute. Luxembourg also managed to beat Hungary, Albania, Lithuania, Moldova and Belarus in the last sixteen months. An exception to the rule of no longer cannon-feeding was the 8-0 defeat against Sweden in the qualification campaign for the World Cup, which partly ensured that Sweden could no longer be traced to the Dutch national team on the goal difference.
THE BETTING VERDICT:
After all, the 4 closest confrontations between two teams have 11 goals scored. But all those goals belonged to Ukraine and Luxembourg failed to score any goals.
